PAT DERRICK

I'm interested in social and cultural issues and the potential for revealing hidden meanings in things or places. Historical research underpins much of my practice as an artist.

My work is mainly three-dimensional; I make objects and installations as well as undertaking live art performance. Recent projects have explored the legacy of London Overspill in King's Lynn and the destruction of art during the English Reformation. Performances have taken place at diverse venues ranging from Norwich Castle Museum to Cambourne Business Centre in Cambridge. At present I'm researching British colonial history in Tanzania (East Africa) and participating in a German Exchange project.

Currently I'm being mentored by London artist and writer Jane Wildgoose under a Commissions East scheme. This is encouraging me to develop new techniques and ways of working.
